October 26 | 8 PM | Paddy O’Shea’s
One of the city’s top sports bars returns with its third annual Maovember quiz. Expect rounds dedicated to mustaches and to themes related to this year’s charity partners, Good Works (coffee) and Library Project (books). Plus picklebacks for rmb30, with all funds to Maovember. Tease your brain and your tongue!
October 27 | 7 PM | Cafe de la Poste
Vive le difference! Cafe de la Poste returns with a blind tasting of four French and four Chinese wines. Think you can tell the difference between the two? Or just want to enjoy fine vino and fellowship? Then RSVP for one of 16 spots by calling 6402-7047. See a recap of last year’s tasting here.
October 28, 29 & 30 | CHEERS
For the fourth straight year, CHEERS will support Maovember by warming up Beijing’s chilly weekends with tasty mulled wine. Get a hot cup of deliciousness for rmb30 (rmb27 for VIP members) at the Gulou, Sanlitun, Shuangjing, Fenghuanghui and Topwin B1 stores.
October 29 | 2 PM | Irish Volunteer / Hockey Bar
A cornerstone Maovember event since year one, the annual 16-team charity corn toss tournament at Irish Volunteer / Hockey Bar has a twist: it’ll double as a Halloween costume party. Fees from the 16 teams—RSVP essential: see poster to register—go to charity, as do proceeds from Spooky Shooters and Pickle Zachs, a draw, and a book sale. October 24-November 19 | Sherpa’s
From October 24 through November 19, get your Maovember pin via food delivery company Sherpa’s in Beijing. Spot one of the company’s couriers with a pin and that means you can get one on the spot for rmb50. Now, even if you can’t make it to one of our events, you can still get your 2016 pin! (Cash only for the moment.)
