Plenty of uncertainty surrounding the city’s food and beverage scene — what’s new!? — as the May 1 to May 4 holiday ban on dining and drinking in restaurants and bars has been extended. Now the authorities are also taking aim at those picking up orders and enjoying them at seating nearby. What a time to be alive.
In any case, here are some Beijing food options, from ordering directly from restaurants and picking it up / having them deliver it, to using major delivery platforms, which can take a major slice of the bill. I’m also guessing there will be a lot of home cooking going on given how many people stocked up on food over these past few weeks.
