Sips & Bites: Extra month for Tim’s, plus Jing-A and Beer Mania

Happy hour inspires spontaneous guitar sessions!

Tim’s Texas Bar-B-Q: This veteran bar and restaurant near The Silk Market was originally due to close at month’s end but has been given until the end of January to head for the hills — or at least to new digs — says management. That gives you five weeks to mosey on over and grab a few more meals and drinks — the hours are 9 AM to midnight and the full menu will be available, says owner Tim Hilbert.

Jing-A Taproom has launched a pair of beers in collaboration with 10 Barrel Brewing in Oregon and Elysian Brewing in Washington. One is a sour infused with pomegranates and called — you probably guessed it — Pomegranate Sour. The other is an imperial made with eight malts — it’s called Eightfold Path — and weighs in at a knock-you-on-your-ass 8.6 percent alcohol level. Get ’em while they last.

Beer Mania has extended its happy hours to ensure more Belgian beer fun. The new hours are 4 PM to 8 PM on weekdays and 5 PM to 7 PM on weekends. All eight of the beers on tap are half-price and there will be deals of select bottled beers, with Saint Martin Blond, Brown and Triple available this week for rmb30.

And, as noted here, word is Ichikura closes tomorrow. Sad news…
