It’s that time of year when the beer turns green, the limericks flow and everyone shouts, “Where’s Me Lucky Charms?!” (Cuz they’re magically delicious.)
St. Patrick’s Day is nigh and here are three places to enjoy it in Beijing. (Countdown until someone says I should have listed four bars as that’s the number of leaves of a lucky clover.)
Modernista (March 16): Enjoy Irish rock and traditional music with the Blackwater crew as they celebrate their tenth anniversary this year. Be a Wild Rover and get an early start on St. Patrick’s Day by catching them on March 16 at 10 PM, then partake of Modernista’s shots happy hour at midnight. “I’ll Tell Me Ma” if you don’t, ha ha ha ha, sigh.
Jing-A (March 17): Buy one, get one free Black Velvet Vanilla Stout all day long. That’s arguably this brewer’s best core beer. And if they are doing a deal like this for St. Patrick’s Day, imagine what’s in store Danish National Day now that they’ve teamed up with Carlsberg!
Paddy O’Shea’s: These guys will start the party on Saturday and go all night into St Patrick’s Day proper, when you can enjoy rmb50 Guinness, green beer (honorary Irish man / owner Paul R says they can color any brew your choose) and general shenanigans.
The usual Sunday happy hour, from 2 PM to 6 PM, will be in effect. And ask nicely and Team Paddy’s just might let you touch the world’s “best community pub” award won at the Irish Hospitality Global Awards.
