Lucky Lopez has opened in the side alley around the corner from Nearby the Tree, which itself is just behind Yashow Market, giving the area another Tex-Mex food option along with Luga’s Villa, Q Mex, Cantina Agave et al. By the way, if you like massive piles of micro chuanr, check out Kang. just a bit further in than Lucky Lopez.

Not sure how long it’s been open but I spotted a Mr Shi’s Dumplings on Xingfucun Middle Road as I headed to April Gourmet. I’ve been to two other Mr Shi’s, in Baochao Hutong and close to Yashow, and found the dumplings decent if pricey. They taste way better if you’ve already had a half-dozen drinks and are jonesing for snacks.

And Latin nightclub Salsa Caribe turns twelve this Friday. That makes it a veteran in the area, with others in the decade-plus club including Jazz-Ya, Aperitivo, Beer Mania and Q Bar.
