icehouse: A project by Handel Lee (The Courtyard, Three on the Bund, Legation Quarter) that converted a Qing dynasty ice house into a blues joint. icehouse was part of a three-themed venue called RBL—restaurant, bar, lounge—with chef Max Levy (Bei, Okra) doing a stint in the R. Despite a Wangfujing site near ground zero for tourists, the owners initially eschewed having any obvious signage, thus making lighter than expected crowds unsurprising but, given bands flown from Chicago, disappointing.
