What the doctor ordered? Bar Herbal features drinks with Chinese medicinal ingredients

By Jim Boyce | Beijing bar veterans Ah Jin, Jack Zhou and CJ—known for Shooters, 1F, The Bar and moreopened their newest place, Herbal, just off Xindong Road yesterday. Designed by Glenn ‘Pop-Up’ Schuitman, this place has a more sophisticated vibe as well as a focus on cocktails with Chinese medicinal ingredients. (The drink below included bee pollen and had me buzzing, ha ha ha, no.)

Neighbor to XL Bar & Restaurant, Herbal is open daily and will have an official launch in April. The full cocktail list should be available by then: I’ll have to return to see if I can find a drink that cures both insomnia and procrastination.

Anyway, dim lighting, a long bar, comfy antique-y chairs, a couple of private rooms, check it out. The food is limited to the likes of cheese plates but I’ve heard people can order snacks from XL next door.
