Brewga’s! Luga’s new brew pub has deals from rmb1 all May

(I was out and about during the May 1 holidays. This is one of a series of updates originally posted on my WeChat account.)

My May 1 mission was to visit the new Luga’s brew pub, and indulge in its one-kuai holiday beer special. After stops at newcomer Pi Bar and a look at the upcoming expansion at Paddy O’Shea’s, I finally reached this Ghost Street Venue. And, as promised, all nine draft beers were priced at a single solitary kuai per glass. And if you missed it, or didn’t get enough, the brew pub has promotions all May, with one-kuai lager on Mondays, two-kuai dark beer on Tuesdays, and so on. Check out this poster:

I had the stout and lager during my visit, both easy to guzzle. It probably won’t wow any craft beer fanatics but will satisfy plenty of consumers. You can enjoy your beer outside on the patio or indoors in booths or at high tables. The second floor can seat about 50 people, and will be handy for events, and there is a pool table, video games, a beer pong table, and screens with sports. It’s a sprawling place.

For food, expect the Luga’s Villa menu, with Mexican / Tex-Mex plus steak, pasta and pizza options. though I’m not sure if they have daily food deals going just yet. In any case, lots of good eats for pounding beer, and those booze plates justify an extra order of tacos or a pizza.

Oh, and Luga was there on May 1. He’s been in the business since back in the days of Mexican Wave, a true Beijing food and drink scene veteran.
