Fang-tastic | Second birthday dovetails with new venue

Fang Bar Beijing China

By Jim Boyce | Look for Fang Bar to celebrate its second birthday in a new venue this Saturday. Opened in September of 2015, it is the latest to relocate from Fangjia Hutong after the “another brick in the wall” campaign. The new Fang is at south entrance of Xinhua Culture Mansion (see map below).

“It’s a nice new and bigger space,” says Zak Elmasri, who is again teaming with Xiao Shuai of Fangjia beer joint El Nido. “It’s about twice as big and we are going to have DJs on the weekends. We will have all the classic recipes and our great off-the-menu-drinks.”

Saturday’s party starts at 6 PM, with free pizza until 8 PM, 25-kuai Arrow Factory beer all night, and lots of music.

Elmasri says Fang will be more of a lounge bar this time around.

“It’s something between going out and dancing and being a place where you can get good drinks,” he says. “It’ll be one of the few lounge bars with that atmosphere in the Gulou area.”

Fang will also keep its buy two, get one free deals on cocktails on Monday and whiskeys on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, word is that El Nido might also soon be making a move, so best to get over there sooner rather than later.
