By Jim Boyce | Usually it’s people that get wrecked in Sanlitun. But this nightlife area was the one getting the treatment last night.
I entered the side door at Groovy Schiller and emerged a few hours later to find the side street dug up. I did a walkabout and saw nearly every facade on the street behind Yashow, including the police station, and the one fronting Tongli covered in netting. Bricks were stacked everywhere. Backhoes and dump trucks operated nonstop.
And yep, there were people partying in Luga’s Villa, TAPS, 3 Rock and elsewhere.
This place is going to look a lot different next month.
