Popular hutong bar The Tiki Bungalow is about to offer double the Polynesian-style fun. The Tommy Bahamas-shirted crew behind this place has taken over Obsession Bistro next door and renovations are now underway.
Tiki Bungalow has gained a strong following since it opened just over a year ago as its potent drinks, fun glassware and cool kitschy decor have proved a winning mix. It’s so popular that it gets uncomfortably packed at times.
The new space, which will apparently go by the name The Iguana Room, should help alleviate that pressure. It will seat about 40 and be accessible via a wide door in the original wall that separates the two venues, thus maintaining the intimacy of Tiki Bungalow proper. Word is chef Dustin Merrett is creating a snacks menu.
